Update for the summer of 2021!
NoBe Everywhere - 2020 Virtual Program
NoBe Everywhere is more than just a chance to earn merit badges. It is an opportunity to provide Scouts with the same spirit that they would get in camp, at home. Our Camp Staff has come together and came up with a way to challenge Scouts in a variety of physical and digital competitions to ensure they will stay active and engaged. We will continue to hold Scouts to our high traditional standards and ensure that they are earning each badge and requirement that they are working to complete. From an interactive theme guiding the week to traditional ceremonies and camp programs – we intend to bring the NoBe camp experience to the Scouts at home.
Whether you are a NoBe regular or looking for a new experience this summer, this program is ready for you! We encourage everyone to sign up for the NoBe Everywhere experience, whether it’s a whole troop, a patrol, or even an individual scout, the program is designed for any amount of scouts to engage in the NoBe Camp Experience at home.
We are bringing together our Senior Staff at NoBe – safely of course – to ensure that they can build the fires, lead the activities, and teach the badges as they should be taught. Our Senior Staff all have multiple years of camp staff experience and are now combining that knowledge with their digital know-how to deliver that camp experience to the scouts at home.
As teachers we have spent over 10 weeks now working and adapting with students in the digital learning environment and we want to bring that knowledge to our NoBe Everywhere program to make our virtual environment the best it can be!
If you have any questions about the program, how to participate, or what we are offering please reach out to us!
Summer 2020 Update
We are sure that many of your are wondering what the summer of 2020 will be like for your Scout troop. We wanted to update you on what steps we are taking for the summer!
We are working on the assumption that camp will be open for the summer and our planning continues as such. We have lined up our staff, and are excited to have many of our directors and key staff returning once again! We are planning for new merit badges, exciting programs, and an engaging theme! Our new Trading Post in the heart of camp (and the three flush toilets that come with it) is completed, and will be fully operational for the whole summer!
Health and safety is on the top of our minds! In order to ensure everyone’s safety, we will be instituting temperature screenings at the Health Lodge upon check-in. Using touch free thermometers, we will be taking the temperature of all Scouts and Leaders. We will be sharing additional guidelines that we encourage you to follow, even before your troop leaves home! We will be increasing hand washing facilities around the Dining Hall, and hand sanitizing facilities around the camp. We are monitoring guidance from the State and local Health Department, and are instituting their recommendations. We are also reviewing our procedures around camp for ensuring the cleanliness of high touch areas.
We understand that many in our community must make increased considerations with financial commitments. We extended the EARLY BIRD DEADLINE to MAY 1 as soon as schools began closing in NJ. To help our Scouting families in this time of uncertainty, we have made adjustments to our refund policy.
If of our camp is unable to open this summer, we will issue full refunds on registrations.
Should a family pay for camp and then feel uncomfortable sending their Scout to camp, they have until June 15th, 2020 to notify Ann Murphy at council to receive a 100% refund on fees paid. All refund requests must be made in writing.
After June 15th, the normal refund policy listed in the Leaders Guide will go into effect. A summary of the NNJC refund policy can be found here.
Our Leaders Meeting is still schedule for June 22nd at the Fair Lawn Rescue Squad building. Being teachers, we are now experts on virtual meetings… so we are exploring ways to offer virtual attendance at the meeting.
As much as we are looking forward to seeing you in camp this summer, the final decision on the summer will not be ours to make. It will likely come from the State of NJ and the National / Local Scouting organizations. We will keep you updated as soon as we know additional information.
Stay well and we hope to see you down NoBe Roads!
Bob, Todd and Marc
