In case you missed it, the minutes for the 2015 Leaders Meeting:
- Staff has been setting up camp since Wednesday, June 17, 2015.
- Gypsy moths have done damage to a lot of camp's oak trees. The Staff is setting up extra tarps to provide shade where the canopy has thinned.
- Camp has a brand new well, 425 feet deep; lots of water pressure!
- Traffic: Two-lane bridge on Rt-94 in Blairstown, NJ is down to one lane, it backs up easily.
- Medicals
- BSA medical form required, Part C must be signed by a doctor for everyone.
- New Merit Badges
- Space Exploration
- Robotics: 2-hour badge, 9-11
- Search and Rescue

- Scouts are broken into groups based on how many skills they have signed off.
- Scouts in FCA during the 9 - 11 and the 2 - 4 time slots have the 11 - 12 and 4 - 5 time slots to take merit badges.
- Bears were bad last year. So far, the bears have stayed out of camp, but they are still present in the area. Please keep all food out of the campsite. Please keep snacks for the troop in the trailer or car. Please make sure parents do not send food with their scouts.
- New camp website!
- Theme: Star Wars!!!
- Thursday event will involve scoutcrafty, Ewok-like construction
- Path of the Jedi Pin Award
- Other Pin Award
- Cooking Merit Badge: New requirements only. Badge has changed substantially, has more prerequisites.
- Horsemanship: New Farm: Morning Star Farm, 1-day program.
- New swag: Polar Bear Swim patch
- Questions:
- Shotgun merit badge is still .25 per shell, Bruce recommends scouts to buy 20 shells.
- Paul Bunyan Award: Same requirements as the national program.
- Fishing Award: Catch a certain number of fish over the course of the week.
- Horsemanship: Will miss all merit badge sessions on Wednesday.
- Robotics: No fee! However, there is a fee for Space Exploration!
- Camp Service Projects: List will be maintained on the website.
- Recommendation: Scouts taking Rifle or Archery should plan on having a free shoot period. Still no cost for shooting .22 Rifles.
- Prerequisites for Cooking: Scoutmasters can sign off.
- Prerequisites for Environmental Science: Extra time during the day required to do observations during the day.
- Prerequisites for Trail to Eagle badges: Scouts absolutely must complete their prerequisites before camp and turn them in at the beginning of the week to the Trail to Eagle coordinator. Preferably typed. Example: Scouts can't write a letter to their Senator while in camp.
- No problems so far with campfires. We've had plenty of rain
- Insects: The county has not yet sprayed for mosquitos, but the mosquitos aren't too bad so far. Ticks are above-average.
- We keep counselor's record for completed blue cards in camp for 7 years. Gridsheets (including both completed and partials) are available in the NNJC office, but there may be some delay in accessing the record.
- Plaques are capped at 18"
- Medications: Each boy's medication in a separate bag. Must be in the original prescription container, not in a weekly box. Prescription must be on the medical form with doctor's signature.
- Epee pens and Inhalers: Must be on medical forms, scouts can carry for emergency use.
- Biggest thing you can do to make check-in go smoothly is to check all of the medicals and organize it before camp.
- All over-the-counter medication must be checked in to troop's medication box.
- Insurance information on the medical is highly recommended but not required.
- The vegetarian menu is now posted on the website. All meals have vegetarian options.
- Food allergies, dietary needs: Leaders should bring food to camp, store it in the Leader's Lounge. Microwave is available.
- No wet clothing in the Dining Hall. Please remind your boys to go back to the campsite to change before the meal. We will remind the scouts at Aquatics.
- Trading Post will always be open Sunday.
- Wednesday: Merit badges are on a half day schedule.
- Recommendation: Make sure scouts who are on medications at home also take their medications at camp.

- Any Scout taking medications must be in the original packaging - and this information must be signed off on the BSA medical form, in section B
- At check-in, parents should bring the medications to Ho-Ho-Kus Lodge to be checked in with the health officer.
- The health officer will return all of the troop's medications to the scoutmaster in a locked box. The troop will administer the medications in the campsite, and keep a log.
- Any medications that require refrigeration will be stored and administered by the health officer.

- Staff member host will meet you when you drive in or in the parking lot.
- Host will guide you through check-in and the tour. He'll first ask you for all of the medicals for staff and adults, and start getting them checked by the health officer. A leader should immediately come to the office to check-in.
