Advancement is one of the cornerstones of the Scouting movement.  We want to ensure Scouts have access to a variety of experiences and high quality classes.  We are mindful that many Scouts have been in a virtual school environment for weeks and we want to ensure that these classes are not just sitting behind a computer, but engaging and getting the Scouts to learn the needed skills hands on!

We are mindful of how the average teenager is working.  We have a later start time to realistically accommodate Scouts, and will offer “office hours” at night if a Scout needs more assistance or has questions.

For the new Scouts, we have digitized our First Class Adventure Program!  This program will give Scouts the opportunity to work on rank requirements in Scout, Tenderfoot, Second and First Class.  Participants in the program will also be able to earn 3 merit badges during NoBe Everywhere.

Scouts should be sure to review the requirements before choosing their badges and be prepared to work on them.  Some badges will require the Scouts to work with a buddy or leave the home. If they have to do either, these should be done with adult supervision.

Merit Badge Sessions

On the Sunday Afternoon before their week, Scouts will receive an email with Google Classroom codes for the badges they registered for.  Once in the classroom, Scouts will be given a link for a secure Zoom session on Monday.  At the given time on Monday, the counselors will meet with the participants, give instructions for future meetings, and the work that Scouts will have to complete.  They may not meet everyday, but each scout can work on the requirements at their own time and pace.  Counselors will be available all week for questions and consultations via email.

Pre-requisites and supplies that may be needed for the badge are listed below.  All pre-requisites should be completed at the time of the first meeting, which is when the counselor will instruct the scouts on how to submit the pre-requisites.

Pre-Requisites

Merit Badge Supplies

Most badges can be completed with items commonly found at home.  Several require kits that can be purchased in our Virtual Trading Post.  Trading Post orders should be submitted at least a week in advance to your week at camp.  We have noted below any common items you would need.

Badges marked with a ° on the schedule will be partial only badges.  We felt that these are good camp badges, and should be offered, but they require an in person experience to complete.  We are planning to offer “Practical Weekend” in the fall to complete these badges at no charge.  If guidelines still do not permit this, the partial will be fully honored in future summers.

In a regular badge, if a Scout does not complete requirements in the week they will be issued a partial for the requirements they completed.
